Bayern should be the pre-season shoo in.  It will be interesting to see if Klose and Toni can play next to each other.  I would prefer Klose-Schweinsteiger/Podolski- Ribery- Van Bommel, given that either Schweinsteiger or Poldoski is healthy.  But can Luca Toni be happy playing second fiddle to Klose all season?  I love Altintop pick up.  He brings grit and skill in the midfield.  Hey, Ulrich, is Ze Roberto still under Bayern's contract?  Their website still has his name on the roster, but I know he played for Santos in Brasil last season.  They should bring him back.

I've heard last year's Stuttgart team was the youngest team ever to win Bundesliga.  Adding Ewerthon and Basturk will only make this team better. Both had great success in Germany in the past seasons.  I also love Magnin except when he plays for Swiss.  And who knows, even Jon Dahl Tommason will regain his form from Milan days.  This team might lose the title to Bayern but make a big splash in Champs League.  I would say they make it to quarterfinals.

But the team I'll be rooting for is Werder Bremen this year.  Losing Klose hurts.  Between Klasnic, Hunt and Rosenberg one of them has to step up big time, I'm feeling Rosenberg.  Diego, Frings and Borowski even Baumann in the middle is as good as any other German clubs.  Both Wome and Naldo are great pushing forward but Naldo's defense has to improve.
As much as I root for this team this year, I hope they have great season and it will be Diego's last season with them.  I want him to end up in Real Madrid, so he can play right behind Robinho, just like Santos days.

Other than those three, Schalke 04 and Dortmund are perennial power houses.  I also enjoy watching Leverkusen, Hamburg, and Hertha Berlin.  Bring back Marcelinho, Hertha!

Hey, what's going on with Vander Vart, Ulrich?  Is he staying with Hamburg?

hey, king kang, i'm surprised. You are well informed. Van der Vart, yes he is still in Hamburg, he is one of my favoured players. Marcelinho is playing now for Wolfsburg and "fatty" Ailton has signed in Duisburg.

I will keep my fingers crossed for Shalke and Borussia Dortmund but I think in this season there will be fight only for second place cause Bayern Munich is to strong. Their bench players would be stars in any other team.

And I forgot to mention that Bayern has Hitzfeld on the bench so I don't think they will have problems with spolied stars.

Ze Roberto has been bought back already, yes. i also agree that Bayern should be obligatory to win the tile this year. also i have high hopes for my team, Stuttgart. other than that, clubs like Nrnberg, Dortmund and Hamburg should make an impression this season, personally i think Bremen will have a very low start and has to reshuffle in the winter break to stay competitive, at the moment i don't see them under the top 5. and of course Schalke will not win this season either, the eternal losers... I hope Bayern can prevail this season, I have been dissapointed with last season as any Bayer fan, especially anyone remembers the team of almost close to a decade ago. It was fun watching the games, and being hyped up in, and around the old Olympia stadium.

I watched Schalke vs Stuttgart yesterday and Bayern Munich vs Hansa Rostock this morning.

Schalke vs Stuttgart was a exciting game.  Schelke controlled the tempo first hour or so and they deserved to win up until that point.  But once Stuttgart scored Schalke lost their composure.  Both are well organized and hard working team.  Stuttgart needs a more skilled holding midfielder who can control the tempo.  I didn't see Basturk in the game but this is the area he can shine for them.  I was impressed with Cacau though.  He reminds me of bigger Ze Roberto but I think his game is more closer to Essien or Davids.  Hitzlsperger played great game also, he can be the new anchor of German national team defense if he isn't already.  Losing Lincoln hurts Schalke's play making ability.  Asamoah couldn't do much battling against Boka.  Rakitic had impressive first game in Bundesliga scoring the equalizer.

Bayern did play Klose and Toni together  moving  Klose  slightly  right  and back and  Toni  slightly towards left from their  natural  position.   It worked because  Klose's  ability to play behind  a  taller  striker as  their first goal proved to be Klose setting up Toni.  If that was the sign of what is to come rest of the season, Bayern has nothing to worry about.  But then again it was against Hansa Rostock.  I was excited to see Ribery and Lahm hooking up together.  They didn't  play off of each other that much but  they both looked  great  individually.  They will learn to play off of each other more as the season progresses which is a scary thought for the rest of German league.  It was good decision to bring Ze Roberto back from my beloved Santos.  He brings eve more creativity and speed in the midfield without sacrificing team defense, a truly multi-faceted player. Altintop made his presence felt after he got subbed in.  I like that signing a lot.

I wanna watch Bremen game, but I gotta go to a wedding now, damn it.  Go Diego Go.

Isn't next week Bayern vs Bremen?  Wow.

Speaking of Bayer Leverkusen, they were my first love of entire European football.  Growing up in Korea, I've heard their name first before likes of Barcelona, Man U, Real Madrid, or AC Milan.  I bet Ulrich knows why.  Yes you are correct, the reason is 'Cha Boom'.  Of course I was too young to remember Cha Beom Geun(Cha Bum Kun) playing in for them, but thank God for You Tube.  However I do remember the Levekusen squad that went to Champs League final against the 'Galacticos'.  Berbatov, Nueville, Ballack, Ze Roberto, Plasante.....  That was a great team but not as great as Zidane's volley shot against them.  That shot was unreal.

You are probably right cause I don't know German. Temujin or Ulrich could confirm it. Bayer is also well known German company - main sponsor of Bayer Leverkusen. Is Bayer Leverkusen from Bavaria?

no, Leverkusen is at the river rhine near cologne.
One of te founder of the company was called Friedrich Bayer, which might have his origin in bavaria.

But to come back to Bayer Leverkusen. No one realy likes this "alembic club", which was always on a drip of the company...
