Actually i think there is a video game called "Jade empire", the background of that game is supposedly set in "China". The designer of the game choose Jade to name this "empire" as if Jade is somehow parallel to "China" itself.
The Chinese have great affection for Jade for a record of long time, which can trace back to over 8000 years of history.
From the earliest simple Jade tools, to ceremonial objects during the neolithic age, to symbol of royal power during the bronze age, to indicator of Confucianist ideals during spring-autumn period, to the objects which can drive out evil spirits during the Han dynasty, and to modern time, the Chinese culture has an unique connection to Jade unlike many others.
Perhaps thats why the designer of the video game "Jade empire" have chose "Jade" to name the "Chinese empire".
But is it really appropriate in equalling Jade somehow to China itself?
Any thought on Chinese jade and its relation with the Chinese culture.
