It's an interesting article if for no other reason then it shows the commitment to safeguarding systems and personnel.  Not to mention the apparent success of the devices. One wonders about the additonal application of this tech in undersea ops---perhaps ASW.

More Talon robots for U.S. Navy
May 31, 2007
The U.S. Navy has more than doubled its investment in Talon explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) robots, in response to attrition experienced in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Foster-Miller, manufacturer of the Talon, said the Navys Robotic Systems Joint Program office increased its current contract from $63.9 million to $150 million, for the acquisition of several robots and spares.
Insurgents have been purposely blowing up robots, but they are being repaired and returned to the fight within just four hours, the company said, adding that 75 percent of the damaged robots are Talons on counter-IED missions.
More than 400 robots per week are under repair at the Joint Robotic Repair and Fielding Activity in Iraq, according to Foster-Miller, a subsidiary of U.K-based QinetiQ.
