You needed to have more than 10 posts, so you can already send PMs.

Dear admin!
I read these words at the section concerning posting articles at this site; "Submitted material must be original. Inclusion of outside copyrighted components must be of acceptable fair use. We cannot host articles about overly controversial or political topics, especially those that may be seen as offensive to any particular culural, ethnic or religious group."
You see, I have a few problems with this particular sentence; " We cannot host articles about overly controversial or political topics, especially those that may be seen as offensive to any particular culural, ethnic or religious group."
I just wonder why articles can be deemed "overly controversial", or how one can determine if a topic might be deemed or seen as "offensive" to anyone, unless you are totally "Politically Correct?" And, I have found anyone who actually follows "politically correctness" to be "offensive", and basicaly "controversial" by the very nature of their so called "neutral" or "non-controversal" thought processes, which are in reality designed to restrict speech and thought!
However, I could be wrong?

I think we have high tolerance for controversial topics posted in this forum. What we don't want is topics that are posted just for the sake of starting arguments or offending some particular group of people.

Then I hope that I will be tolerated reasonably? I am somewhat controversial, but I do not wish to start fights, or offend by offering false or malicious information. If indeed I do offend anyone, I will be the first to apologize and condescend!

In support of C4E, it's "boiler Plate" A clause written to cover almost any occurrance. And I will also mention that no one in either the Admin group or the mod squad as they now exist, had any hand in writing this section.
Someday soon we are going to start reworking some of the less acceptable sections of the CoC and these rules as well.
Opuslola, we have been threatened with lawsuits over some of the posts put up in the past, usually regarding things such as Kosovo, FYROM etc. The wording might even have been done by our attorneys. It is also designed to prevent postings [or at least give us tools to deal with them] from groups or individuals of the kind seen at stormfront or "The White History forum". That's the only type of thing we're interested in restricting.
My turn, why the concern, have you seen any misuse of this?

Red clay, many thanks for your kind response. Yes I have seen numerous examples of idea, or speech expression on sites deigned to be of a historical nature, and I have also seen exchanges between members become very vehemet and vocal! But, I just did not want to be the "new boy on the street" that could be vilified for making a statement that was not "politically correct!"
Thanks for your explanation! I shall try to abide my the rules!

Usually, we send warnings when things get out of hand. You do not have to be "politically correct" but need to have respect for people you are exchanging ideas with.

Since I am a relatively new member, just what was the "vocabulary" section? What was its purpose? Why was it eliminated?, etc.

I have no idea what BN5 is talking about, but then, neither does she/he. This is probably first and last post. I deleted it, just in case it was a target for spam bots.

This is a good one. It is pretty pathetic too. This kind is of advertisement you can get through google.

I'd like to suggest a new topic under "General History". I'd like to see a discussion on Historiography, that would outline topics such as Post-revisionism, History from Below, Public History, Overseas History and mapping the discipline of history over time, from Herototus to womens movements to present-day environmental history.
Thanks,
Kilo

Hello All,
This is my first place and I have looked through this forum and I haven't found a place for New Members to introduce themselves to all the existing members ....
Is there a place, or could there be a place?
Meanwhile, I'll start a new thread and hope all is well.
Nice t'meet ye all!
+ Anthony
