Can the new post function be set so it remains as it is when we log on until we log off? Right now the function is almost useless, because we loose the whole list of new post, as soon as we make a post. What good is that?

When the time changes on "New Posts" switch it back to "yesterday" and you get all new posts within that 24 hour span.

I am going to guess and say your the same guy who has already been banned. Earlier this AM. Hence The IP address you have just used is also now blocked. And in a moment I'm going to get rid of the post. So my advice is as what was already pointed out by our Administrator....spammers are not welcome.
If I am wrong post to the Admin and clarify your real desire to become a member and I will offer up the necessary apologies. Until then.. goodbye.

Speaking as a former moderator i am impressed by the size of allempires and knowledge of its members. However, i have a few suggestions to make it easier to find topics: have links to four or five similar threads at the bottom of the page and divide the Regional and Period History forum into smaller, chronologically-ordered groups.
Group 1 Ancient History comprising the forums of mesopotamia, egypt and the mediterranean
Group 2 Western History comprising the medieval, early modern and modern periods in addition to American history
Group 3 Eastern History for India, the Middle East, Australasia and China
Group 4 World History (or some other appropriate name) for the remaining areas

With the permission of Red Clay and yourself i would like to promote allempires on other sites like livejournal, myspace, yahoo answers and facebook (as a relevant link summarised in my answer). I believe this will attract a lot more members and help revitalise the forum

I personally don't see a problem but can't speak for other staff... and recommend you PM Red Clay and see what his thoughts are...if he hasn't responded directly here in a couple of days. This will give him the chance then to sound out the staff.
thanks

If approved i will do as i have done in the past: provide a decent answer that helps the community in addition to useful links to attract members. The links below are examples of what i have done in the past. If "join us" is a problem it could be substituted with "find out more here"

I'll be willing to advertise on my Rome Forum if I can have a small link in my sig >> I won't advertise it outside of the Sig.
For how little it might help, I will also talk about it alot to friends (most of who are also History Lovbers)

I designed this to replace the monolithic "period and regional history" section. I regret that my design is so crude (having only access to Microsoft Paint) but i think if the groups were smaller and the forums chronologically ordered it would be easier for members to find what they're looking for and encourage more newbies to register, first impressions being everything.
What do you think?

I like it. As of now It is slightly trivial to find the right places, and that has always been a bad trait on other forums. I like Nicks idea of creating catogories for ancient, eastern, weastern, and world histoy. (And dividing those up into regions of time) It makes it easier to find stuff.

I like it...now next step is get final permission from Red Clay.....as the tech requirements for change are his baliwick....Pm him with your design and speak to him also reference the forum magazine...which has languished for a while. I believe people like you and Eddie, Michael Collins and others as they would be willing, could be of great value there. And he specfically queried me reference your potential interest.
Be patient men we are getting there....and many thanks for all suggestions.
