Between months to forever. It totally depends on what the war goals of the United States are.

Realistically, there will be no war with Iran, as there doesn't have to be. But if there were, and if Iran used it's nuke/religious toys, it would last about a day. Guess who wins.

Realisticaly, war with Iraq was unecessary yet we are there. The length of any war with Iran is totally dependent on the war goals of the USA.
If the goals are...
A. Destroy Iranian nuke facilities by air power, the war will last weeks
B. Destroy Iranian airforce and naval capabilites by air and sea strikes, the war will last months
C. Occupy and socially change Iran into a secular, unified, pro USA represenative democracy, the war will last essentially forever.

And all of the above is why war with Iran is unnecessary. Containment is a far batter approach.

Containment is by far the best policy. Unfortunately, our old pal
Hussein used to do it for us. Now we've got to find a way to do it
ourselves.
But, yeah, war with Iran means that their desert becomes even more so.
And, honestly, the only reason we goofed up in Iraq is because we stuck
around. If we just came in, nabbed Saadam from his hole, and left them
to their own damn problems, we'd have been fine, and poised to strike
again. We can fight armies, we can't fight nations or ideologies. If we
had just set up arrangements with some warlords to ship us the Iraqi
oil, and left them to self-determine their own government, we'd be free
of this sticky situation.
