That would depend on what your looking for. Are you reading it in Latin or English? Are you more interested in politics or war?
If your looking for an easy Latin read or are interested in Roman warfare, go with the Commentarii de Bello Gallico. If your looking for a slightly harder Latin read, and are more interested in politics (and the times of the Late Republic) go with Cicero. Or buy both!
Well, my personal opinion is that Cicero is a better read. The commentaries tend to be very dry and straight forward, while Cicero's letter and speeches tend to be full of sarcasm, quips and critical about all of the political figures of the day.
