...And where exactly is this new museum? You didn't say.

...The Istanbul Archeological Museum is a hidden gem- it contains the 2nd slab of the TREATY OF KADESH!

One of the greatest archeological tragedies of the 20th Century was the destruction and pillage of the Bagdad Museum during the war with the US.

TV news footage showed priceless artefacts destroyed and being looted by locals. I doubt if the stolen items will ever be seen again.

While the artefacts were the property of the Iraqi people, they were also the property of the world,  artefacts from which knowledge has been gained, and probably even more information remained to be found.

Has anything been done to track down the thieves and the stolen property?

Yes! As far as I know, most of the works have either been recovered or are under investigation. You must know the work Americans did during WWII to try and save Nazi collections! Even a movie has been made.

Do you really think that we would do less for Iraq?

But when a people turn upon their on brethren and steal or destroy their own history, how can we "America" react? How would you?
