Many say that the protestants from the reformation had ideals of working hard and other factors that helped lead societes like Britian and the U.S. The reformation though did not have a big impact on Spain, and it really did not effect France too much in the long run as it was still predominatly Catholic.

But if the reformation did have a big impact on Spain, would it have been better overall? Would it really have a change on Spain through the reconquista all the way to it's American Empire?

I believe it would have effected many wars. For example, the Spanish would have been allies with all of the Protestant countries of Europe. It may have not effected the Americas much, but it could have definitely have effected Europe.

Agreed, but it depends a bit whether it went fully Protestant or stopped halfway like the Church of England or the Lutheran churches.

Maybe the King of Spain would have married Elizabeth and not Mary. Now that's a big turnaround Smile

I think this may have had an affect on the Second Jacobite Rebellion. I mean, if Spain had invaded France during the War of Austrian Succession, the Jacobites may not have gotten French aid, and the French would have been fighting on two fronts. The Jacobite Invasion may not have even happened (since they were using French ships), and the whole effect on the British military(possibly not having as many Highland regiments) could have really hurt in the longrun.
