Dabka
The Dabka - as I have known it - is a traditional line-dance, popular
in al-Shaam and Iraq. Encylopedia Britannica defines it as an
"Arab dance," but is it really?
I have recently come across the Wikipedia article on this subject, and
found two theories on the history and origin of the Dabka dance.
One theory suggests that it may be Turkish (or Gypse) in origin; the
other implies that it may have originated in al-Shaam (Greater Syria;
Levant.)
Any opinions, comments, theories ... etc. anyone?
