Topic: Your favourite English Accent Posted: 09-Jan-2007 at 18:26 |
Sorry is very general like the english of England wich in fact is divided in two, southeast and northwest, but we have only 12 options... I love the southern american accent like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMrQRx1aKGI
and have an special feeling with the australian accent of this girl of Brisbane http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQO3K8BcyGM
Well thought, it's possible that my preferences are conditionated by the girls , because in the case of australian generally sound rude british to me.

Other - Sri Lankan. There are many different Indian/Pakistani English accents in my experience, possibly linked to the many Indian languages, i never did figure out the patterns behind them. Some are frankly horrible, but others amazingly awesome. But Sri Lankan beats them all, this deserves seperate mention.

I'd take the two, double it, add, half a dozen or so, double it again and you may be halfway there....

True True - English Linguistics (even within England) is so intricately diverse, there are simply just too many to add into a poll... Still love to hear your preferences abuot this

A couple of years ago some research under a lot of women showed that Irish is without doubt the sexiest accent anyone can have in English, and I'll have to second that.

I've been told the best English is spoken in Dublin - any truth to that?

Oh of course! There must be at least ten different ones. There are several Irish accents too. I hate those from Ulster.
Girls from other English speaking countries (including other home nations) really dig my accent, I have to say...

If you take every second word as being the F-word as an indicator of good English, then possibly.

I like Scottish and Irish accents the best. Scottish Highland accents are pretty cool, but so are some of the Midland/Lowland accents. Dublin also has an interesting accent in Ireland. The Scots and Irish have a sort of romanticism to them that some English accents just fail in comparasion to. Welsh accents are sometimes interesting to here. However, I have mixed feelings on English accents. I cannot stand some of them because they sound so wierd, but some English accents sound very interesting.

A good Edinburgh accent sounds authoritative and educated.

In a very salt-of-the-earth kind of way, yes.
