Topic: Who are the five greatest generals of all time? Posted: 21-Jan-2014 at 10:47 |

In other words any information that could be admitted into a "Court of Law?" Smile!
I even know the answer!
Sorry, I had to ask! Ron |
Ron, if you insist with this stuff, keep it in the alternative history forum. There are folks here who think you've lost it and have emailed me expressing this.

Is there any "real" proof that he ever lived or led?

To whom are you referring? Caesar? Scipio? Rommel?
Given the formidable changes in battle tactics and weaponry over the centuries, I'd find it hard to compare, for example, Caesar with Rommel or Paton. Nor do I thinks it's fair to try to do so.

And with opponents like Ambrose Burnside, That's not much of a jump.

And all of them (the American Civil war generals) were trained at the same Academy! This must mean something?

Thanks for being fair? Your assessments of the South's leadership really stinks! You are using your rank to lead the team for someone else that you regard!
Lee and Jackson were mostly undefeatable until Jackson's death! In almost ever battle the Union troop were in a two to one advantage, yet you disparage on both sides!
And this war was basically ignored in Europe and Asia, etc.!
Ashamed you should be, RedClay

Sun Tzu, 544–496 BC- the Chinese General and Philosopher wrote "The Art of War" a book studied all over the world still. His writings point to the most common sense points of War, and he must rank as the greatest ever.

The fact that Robert E Lee only got a couple of mentions in this entire thread proves the idea that 'History is written by the victors'. Stonewall Jackson is victim to this as well to a lesser degree.

Though you point maybe valid, it would be helpful if you would clarify it by giving your assessment as to why this should be looked at as being so. Btw, welcome to the forum.

What a handsome figure of a dragon. No wonder I fall madly in love with the Alani Dragon now, the avatar, it's a gorgeous dragon picture.
