This would be a sad day. It would never happen though, we like our football too much!

Yeah, I mean we beat them twice, you think that the British would have tried to conquer us again much earlier. Well, now we Americans have to go back to being under the control of the mother country. As for the metric system, it would be better to have the same measuring system as the rest of the world. It will be hard to give up yards and inches though.

Lol its not about it being difficult, if I really wanted to I could go on a website now and learn it fine in no time, but I dont want to, I like the Imperial system, I dont see any reason why I should have to learn Metric.
I like Imperial and dislike Metric and I'll never change, so thats that lol.
Did a lil search on Wiki, its funny how developed and entrenched arguments for and against the adoption of Metric are
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metrication
"The UK and U.S. have seen the greatest opposition movements. Many in the UK see it as the imposition of a foreign system and to be connected with other unpopular ideas from mainland Europe, such as the EU, the Euro and driving on the right."

I learned both at school back in the 80s, i think both should be
available, its not that difficult, hell it it really bothers you i'll
send you a java applet converter for your mobile phone
Incidently, the original dicision to adopt the metric system was
because of trade, back in teh 60s it was felt that British exports
could suffer as many countries used Metric and had no experience with
Imperial, and ex-colonies were adopting metric too.

The British government has been forcing the Metric system on the British, previous generations use Imperial, whereas when I was in school only a few years ago my generation seems to be given a confusing mix of Imperial/Metric trying to suit everybody, but ultimately left people baffled.
So people tend to revert to the system they were taught first which is often Imperial.
British governments have been trying to force the metric system onto the people for well over 100 years, I think it's pretty obvious we dont want it by now.
I don't know anybody who doesnt weigh themselves in stone and doesnt know how long a inch foot or yard is and ive never met or heard anybody from this country who says kilometres instead of miles. I see no reason whatsoever why we should abandon a system we understand and are comfortable with just to fit in with everybody else.
Just leave us be

Britian began introducing metric back in the 1960s, the only people forcing it on Britian are the British.

Metric system is great as one of the few Americans that understands it and the ease it brings Im am still bothered by my goverments continuing the use of it over an antiquated non uniform system.
I certainly do think the modern American wouldnt even notice if Britian took over again. ..

Metric is constantly being forced on us, but many people still use the Imperial system of measurement here in Britain and are comfortable with it, so why confuse us with a system we dont particularly want.
