Royal emblem of Pandya was Twin Fish. (According to legend the Goddess Meenakshi was daughter of Pandya King and as the name Meenkashi suggests she had the eyes like the Fish and hence Twin Fish was accepted as the symbol of Royal flag in her memory)

Chera Royal flag was Bow and arrow.

Royal Emblem of Chalukya Dynasty was Varaha (Boar) - incarnation of God Vishnu

Chola Royal Flag consisted a jumping tiger.

Some times Chola Coins and Royal seals consist The Jumping Tiger with the Bow and Arrow, Twin Fish and Boar bowing to the tiger which symbolically proclaims their suzerainty over  Cheras, Pandyas and Chalukyas, as you can see in the picture below.

Royal Emblem of Hoysala Dynasty - According to legend a young man named Sala,  saved his  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jain - Jain  guru Sudatta by striking dead a Lion he encountered  The word "strike" literally translates to "hoy" in old Kannada, hence the name of the dynasty established by him, Hoy-sala

Royal emblem of KAlchuri Dynasty was Nandi (Bull) - Mount & gate keeper of Lord Shiva

"Royal Emblem of Hoysala Dynasty - According to legend a young man named Sala, saved his Jain guru Sudatta by striking dead a Lion he encountered The word "strike" literally translates to "hoy" in old Kannada, hence the name of the dynasty established by him, Hoy-sala"

So we are sure from the sample shown that the animal was a "Lion?" Would not a Tiger be more correct? Or could it be a "bull?" If so, then another idea is established?
