There is another theory - it is generally accepted by most scholars and researchers that every myth and legend began with a real event of some sort, "a grain of truth". Therefore, it is postulated that once there were creatures who appeared to "dragons".

That having been said, where did the myths and legends of flying horses, mermaids, sea monsters, Cyclops, werewolves, vampires, wizards, sorcerers, necromancers, the pantheon of gods and goddesses and all of the other "mythical" creatures throughout history come from?  Where did the Egyptians get their concepts of the man-beast gods they worshipped?  Where did the Feathered Serpent god of Meso-America come from?  And where did all of the legends of blond, blue-eyed tall man-gods-from-the-sky come from all over the world?
