Topic: The American Dream? Posted: 05-Apr-2006 at 10:35 |
Well, I'm sure that you americans know better what to do out there. I'm bound to be kind of skeptical (guess all auditors have a slight dose of paranoia) but american people are important. They should be those who decide what's best for them and make a stand against those who are misleading their country. Just hope they don't do it too late.

Id just like to say
WAKE UP FROM YOUR "DREAM"
but seriously, the american way of life is that of religion, hipocrisy, greed, deceit, domination, narcisism, racism and warlordism. I don't think that the americans deseve to be the worlds superpower.

Can we all just be a bit more civil in this discussion. America has her
faults but I would like to be able to go through a thread about her
minus the vitriolic puke. Criticise America intelligently by all means,
but don't turn threads like these into a discussion where one person
launches a poorly formed insult and it ends up with people patting
eachother on the back and the posts made are unworthy of a response.

As it is unlikely that new members who posted to the thread have read the topic, and as it has been extensively discussed above, I am inclined to close the topic.
Let's wait awhile and see how it goes.

I don't know about you guys but the "American" dream is to just be happy and have a good life. I don't need lots of money or a huge house. All I want is a decent sized amount of land in Montana and to be allowed to tool around with my old cars.
But who am I?

says the guy with Stalin as his avatar. Why not just put Hitler in your avatar? It's the same thing. anyways, I think the whole american dream has come back to the center with all these immigration marches If there was no such "american dream" then there wouldn't be 11 million people here illegally, and protesting to stay.

True peace is not the absence of tension, but the presence of justice.

Well, myself seven years ago, the dream is a manifestation of one's
desires. The dream can range from sitting on the patio with a cold beer,
or tenaciously working to support a wife and kids. The American dream
will always be different to an individual, regardless of time

"I'm leaving the American dream, all right - I don't know whose dream, but I'm living it" - some guy I met in HomeDepot.

Sounds similar to my dream: a house and strip of land in the southwest where i can drive a big muscle car (or pickup like the el camino or ranchero), wear a gunbelt and a Stetson, and drink root beer (really hard to get in the UK).
