It's in all news outlets.  About 20 morons attacked the 3 who were going on shore leave.  The idiots were chanting "yankee go home".  They weren't even original.Tongue
 
I think we should do exactly what they want.  Pull all US military from Turkey.  There are other ports our ships could pull into.  Let them figure out how much money their economy is losing, over 20 morons.
 
CNN reporters were trying to play it down.  They were saying they were surprised by this considering "the close relationship we have with the Turk military".  Oh?  where were they in the Iraqi Invasion when they refused to allow the coalition to use their airspace?
 
It's time for NATO to re-examine Turkey's membership.  With "friends" like this? You know the rest.
 
They are attempting to straddle the fence.  Someone should tell them how uncomfortable straddling a 4 ft fence with a 3 ft inseam can be.

Should it happen? Yes.

But it won't happen as long as they remain in NATO and are of significant potential strategic use as defined by DoD. The strategic value of ops planners will take precedence. Until the significant and potential in the equation are dismissive in a re eval.

Any peremptory USN SM safety action will be regarded by State Dept. as provocative. Local command actions might include no S/L there for a cooling off period of time.

SOFA's with Turkey at this point remain questionable.

As does their usefulness and status as allies.
