It is not a problem from what country is the pope. The problem is that this time Ratzinger was the only strong personality of all the cardinals. They choosed the one who was best of them all.

There were plenty of strong personalities. Ratzinger was the one who played the electoral game the best.

That is why I have a slimmer of faith. His ambition may turn him into a more moderate pope so that he will be remembered well.
