Topic: Wild Turkey Posted: 11-Mar-2011 at 19:43 |
If any of you were expecting an expose on Istanbul nite life, Oh well.
Wildlife is definitely adapting to the Suburban environs. A case in point was what happened to my wife and I about 3 hours ago.
My wife called me to the front hall, there was an urgency in her voice. I went to the hall and she was pointing to the front door. Outside, on the front step, looking in the storm door, were 2 Wild Turkeys. At least 20 lbs each. The one that was nearest to the door stood 3 ft high. I've seen a lot of wild turkeys, but never that big, or that nervy.
Has anyone had any similar experiences?

And it's March and not October, so it isn't Holloween related. No area 51, and it's been years since anyone planted corn in this area. I thought we were the only ones who had seen these characters, but the neighbors have told us they've been around for a week. They are sucking up the birdfood in all the backyard feeding stations, and judging by their size, they are doing well with it.

Are you refferring to the bird, or the Spirits named after said bird.
30 years ago people payed well for expert game trackers, "Turkey callers" to bring the "secretive" bird out of the woods. I wonder if it might work in reverse? You get critters that big roaming thru your landscaping they can rearrange things.

The bird - I rarely drink hard liquor.
