Pancha Vadyam is another art form performed in the temples of Kerala during festivals. This too lasts for acouple of hours. It is entirely different from Panchari melam. There are some common instruments used for both Melam and Pancha vadyam ie Kombu(semi circular pipe) and Ilathalam(Heavy bronze cymbals), but other than these the main instruments are different.
Main Instruments of Panchavadyam are Thimila,Maddhalam & Idakka. The descriptions with photos are given in the links at the start of the topic.
