Topic: Gandhi's ideas dont work Posted: 03-Dec-2010 at 04:50 |
most of the Gandhi's ideas dont work in real and real situations, so why does he have a cult following??? we all know he was also a very racist person against blacks in africa, how come that is never highlighted?? also it is known he use to drink his own urine

I think theres a big difference between reality and ideals. People need some ideals to follow, just like religion - only in Ghandi's case you could actually see him. (Drinking your urine is a healthy thing, if you are psychofitnessfreak) :D

Balocchi, provide some sources for this. Gandhi's ideas worked pretty well for Martin Luther King.
As for the racist thing, same. Provide some sources, or your just trolling.
You can also consider yourself officially warned. Trolling, trying to incite a flame war etc.

History figures are always created around some idea/ideal!?!This one is peaceful disobedience, good one. Trough them always some group, inside or outside, control system/country.Interesting thing is that this man become famous because of propaganda from his "enemies".They need figure that will represent there interests in India.Very same like hippie movement. From movement for control of youths it is grown in fashion behavior.

No, you posit, then you are responsible for sources. You have what right now seems like a valid point. Support it.
No uni level professor would let you get away with that on a paper.

I'm rather concerned about Gandhi's admirer Anna Hazare. His supporters utilise many fascist methods: intimidating opponents, assaulting farmers who grow grain for alcohol production, and destroying property, despite his claims of being nonviolent. Hazare supports forced sterilisation and wants to introduce the death penalty for corruption. He flogged people in his village who refused to become vegetarians, supported the persecution of Muslims, and attempted to create a superhuman personality-cult by publicly fasting. His decision to wear pyjamas rather than a suit draw parallels with Codreanu and Franco who encouraged the use of traditional dress.

But Nick, none of this applies to Ghandi himself does it? I'm quite shocked from what I read from balochii's post, I could never imagine Ghandi as a racist...

Usually, balochii, when making such accusations it is customary to add evidence in the form of links, or supply some when asked.

What a handsome figure of a dragon. No wonder I fall madly in love with the Alani Dragon now, the avatar, it's a gorgeous dragon picture.

Gandhi resented Africans, deeming them "kaffirs" and refused to share a cell with black prisoners. He wanted better treatment for Indians at the expense of other minorities

Supriesd are we? Why? All of the alleged greats have had their personable foibles....and over and over again the Wolf must remind the innocent that context in for an era.. must be examined. Even with and because one would attempt to draw a nexus with another era and or even later in the same.
Gandhi...for all his hype is no different.
He was a bigot as much as any of the alleged greats with a nationalistic agenda for those whom were first in representation....nothing new. As for sources and links reference this they permeate the net. Nick has given you one. There are many more. The only question to be resolved is whether one believes the veracity of any of them.

some time ideas get front of men. ghandi is not just ghandi, he is also symbol. national symbol as flag. his peace identity just came from his ability of gaining indian independence without guns and also his wish of equality for indian people as colonists (not world peace or human rights)
and also you can't anaylse him in today's perspective. he died in 1948 but in that time and next 20 years still there wasn't equality between white americans and afro-americans (Afro-americans civil right movement 1955-1968).
but thank you, nick and balochii. black people and gandhi situation is unknown interesting information.

Yep, saw it. A good one also. However, I would prefer that Balocchii provide his own. He knows better, this isn't the first time I've had to caution him.

There is no doubt that this statement is his own, since he wrote on the Indian post: ' Kaffirs
are as a rule uncivilised—the convicts even more so. They are
troublesome, very dirty and live almost like animals... The kaffirs'
sole ambition is to collect a certain number of cattle to buy a wife
with and then pass his life in indolence and nakedness. They're
loafers... a species of humanity almost unknown among the Indians'
