Hey, A question for those who can help...

All those who claim a "Mughal" lineage, do they all decendend from the Mongols who trace back their origins from the potentate, Genghis Khan? Do all Mughal have to be decendents of Genghis Khan to be considered Mughal ? And/or are Mughals just assimulated Turks or Persian ? for e.g, The emporer Babur, who ruled over parts of Central and Southern Asia regions, considered his lineage to be of Timur and Chaghtai-Turkic. So, even though his his origins are traced back to Genghis(mothers side), he was still very much assimulated into a Turkic and Persian culture which he brought with him into his dynasty. Why was he even considered a Mughal ( presuming that is the arabikized transliteration of the Persian word for Mongol) ? If that is the historical aspect of the term Mughal or Mongol, then what does the word in modern day's termonology entail?

I don't know if I'm making sense, so if someone could clarify this it would be helpful to me in my family research.
