QuoteReplyTopic: Geckos and Plant Hoppers - Mutualistic Symbiosis? Posted: 16-Feb-2008 at 11:51
Up to their usual, recording groundbreaking animal behaviour in the wild, the BBC Natural History Unit has filmed an unusual example of interaction between a 'Day Gecko' and a 'Plant Hopper' insect. Basically, the Gecko repeatedly nods its head at the Plant Hopper, who in turn 'throws' honeydew over to the Gecko to feed on. Very bizarre. This is a new phenomenon to the scientific world. So, zoologists of All Empires, I put to you the question - is this mutualistic (both benefit)? If so, why? What other explanation might there be? Good luck, and I look forward to hearing your theories and ideas.
First was where that behavior filmed ? and my guess is , not to be eaten , so Geko have an farm of insects to harvest instead , there is more pray to eat.
Why i asking is , when i was walking in Llanganatis djungle , i was turning around , i expected to see an stalking T Rex who would eat me , i sure give him my food instead.
