Just saw a program on these three ships transporting civilians and wounded soldiers sunk in the baltic during the end of world war two. I had read something about german ships being sunk in the baltic with great loss of life towards the end of the war before, but did not know much about it until I saw this.
My question is: does anyone know of any good books on these sinkings and the overall situation surrounding them? I was amazed to learn of the number of fatalities. Apparently something in the neighborhood of 25,000. They are 1-3 in greatest ship sinkings in terms of loss of life in history.
