I'm researching the early 18th century, and I'm trying to find out what ordinary folk's understanding of the stars in the sky were? Did they believe the stars had planets round them and possibly other life or was that more recently? Did a lot of stars and constellations have names and if so were they the same as the ones now? What were they used for (i.e. navigation, farmers planting crops etc.)?
