Hey everybody, I just wanted to start an interesting thread on pictures of explorers of the New World. The time period can range from the late 1400's to the 1900's. Anyway here are some pics

a descendant of the stockmen who joined Columbus on his second voyage, bringing their horses and cattle that would later be taken by Cortes to Mexico, whence they spread across the continent. These early horsemen that came from Spain brought both Spanish and Moorish traditions, including the jineta-style saddle shown above. This is Alonso de Ojeda, whos parents were from Macedonia and fleed to Spain from the Balkans to escape the Ottoman advance. This man is noted because he has accompied Christopher Colombus and made repeated journeys to the New World
