Latin American history

When it comes to Latin America, one should try to make a point of reading a book from a conservative point of view and another one from a liberal point of view. And you can throw in a Marxists history for good measure as well.

As incredible as it may sound, the historic interpretation will be dramatically different.

It doesn't really matter which one it is; just makes sure that you get different perspectives.

The big Marxist history of the region is "Las Venas Abiertas de America Latina." It gives a comprehensive history from an economic point of view, colonialism, and imperialism. It is very influential in Latin America.

Its main problems is that it uses Marxists concepts to explain things, and it is strongly biased. But it is worth reading for its influence.
