Topic: The meaning behind AE titles... Posted: 28-Jan-2007 at 17:16 |
When you have five stars... I had new options for the rank titles. But I don't understand most of them, which would be listed below...
- Shahanshah
- Padishah
- Caliph
- Hueyi Tlanhtoani
- Huang Di
- Tenno
What are their meanings, and maybe some historical backgrounds/examples as well? Also, could someone list the ranks available in different star levels? I always wondered about some rank names, but I can't find it since I do not have 4,3,2, and 1 star(s)...

Shahanshah is Persian for "King of Kings". A historical example would be Shahanshah Darius I.

I don't know what Tenno is. But different samurai clans' Shi-Tenno, for instance the Ryuzoji Shi-Tenno or the Tokugawa Shi-Tenno, were like great generals. Shi-Tenno meant something like 'guardians.' Suffice it to say, that's definitely a Japanese term.
A caliph would presumably be the leader of a caliphate. Different Islamic Empires were sometimes considered 'caliphates,' I think. A caliph would be like a religious leader, often with political powers at times. My knowledge on the Arabic world is very limited, but I'm absolutely positive that you could find out what a caliph is by searching the Internets.
Huang Di means 'Yellow Emperor,' and is a mythical Chinese figure.

Sweet. Only Tenno left.
And as I already mentioned, could anyone list the optional ranks that you have?

Padishah was also used by Ottomans and it is at the top of the Ottoman ranks on this site.

No idea. I am half-Italian, and I did not know what a Capo was. However, I am a fourth-Scottish, and I know what a Laird is. It is just wierd how you come to know some words, yet do not know others.

Indeed. I blame English. English word of "Tenno" was unfamiliar to me.
