How is it that Iran was able to hold onto so much of its persian culture in the aftermath of the Arab conquests, while most of the other peoples living in the area were either eradicated or, more commonly, simply absorbed? It's always kind of puzzled me. Thank you for whatever answers you are able to give.

you can create a thread on this subject, but i will summarize the basics for you.
iranians resisted for more than 200 years and eventually were able to kick the arabs out. also, one of our national heroes, ferdowsi, perserved the iranian language. at the time, people were killed if they did not practice islam or speak arabic.
iranians resented this very much, and it is because of that arab occupation that lasted 222 years that today there is still tension between arabs and iranians.
so the jist of it is that iranians held out, unlike others who were arabised, we formed a successful resistance movement, and preserved our culture and language secretely.
and iranian culture has always been dominnent in the region (central, asia, middle east, south asia, and as far as italy and possibly beyond). for example, the language of arabic, grammatically is persian based.
You need to clarify what you mean by Iranian? Indeed there is two culture in todays country iranThe Caucasus culture also called zeri-Turk culture and the other one is the Persian culture which is related to Central Asia. The division line goes in the middle of the country. Tehran, Isfahan and Azerbaijan have close similarities to Caucasus in terms of culture. Lorestan, Fars and Khorasan belong to central Asian culture. Kurds have their own category but classed under Iranian culture closer to central Asian than Azeri-Turks/Carcasus. For this exact reason, Qajaried Turks moved the capital to Tahran an Azari Turk country sine almost all of people in triangle of Tehran, Isfahan and Azerbaijan are Turks from Caucasus and have no relation with Iran(Aryan ) or Persia even if they can speak the Persian language, but Language is not culture.
Indeed today the word Iran and Iranian has lost its original connotation who and what are an Iranian Azerbaijani-Turk? Arab? Turkmen? Assyrians? Armanis? Bakhtari make the majority population of country Iran and thus Iranian, but they have no connection to iranic culture or history whats so ever.
From Aryan invasion, until the revival of Dari/Farsi language/culture by Samanid a local dynasty from Balkh Afghanistan, the country called Iran had her culture from Central Asia/Afghanistan it was not the other way around for you to call the central Asian culture as Iraniancountry where majority of people are Turk, Arab, Assyrians, Armanis, Turkman, and so on!
Why do you assume that anyone cares if its against religion or not? And if "people who date, are married, and have healthy sex lives are more happier and easy-tempered" then how do you explain your obsessive-compulsive behavior on this forum with outright beligerance to almost every single user on here who posts anything you don't agree with?
Sure, Telde. Whatever makes you sleep at night, hun.
[quote=maqsad]Even a mullani wouldn't get so anal about everything like you do.

Let's make it up by celebrating Pakistani Punjabi and Pathan Pride for life!

Also I heard Sharokhs khans is also half Afghan/Pashtons, since his mom is Indian.
The pallavas got assimilated into the tamil people intead of other groups as we have caste group pallavarayar(kallars-ksyatriyan caste with proven royal lineage). The fair groups in kerala-mixtures of middle east groups, kanada are the mixtures of europeans such as greeks and telugus are mixtures of the North indian aryans. Some of the kallars(pallavarayar family background) are with pointed sharp features and strikingly white fair skin.they look much aryan than the indian aryans. their srikingly sharp features which resembles that of the iranian or mediterranean. In case of the tamil brahmin most of them look very typical with features looking very traditional/typical south indian. those among them appeared fair , but never looked aryan as some in the kallar caste such as pallavarayar. Despite being looking so un-aryan, the tamil brahmins propagate that they r the aryans and remain stricly intact with other tamil groups to retain their race. If they were to mix, it will possible with those whom they belive better than them in looks. Their claim for being aryan is just to remain superior over the rest of the tamils.with looks so typical, how they can put themselves in aryan categories. Features r more important than color as there are many other fair groups such chinese(mongoloids), polynesians.etc. in the world.
The representatives of the Parthian race are present-day Baloch, before the arrival of the Turk in the territory of modern Turkmenistan there were Baloch, from the southeastern Caspian Sea to Sarahs (khorasan). Although today in these places there Balochi.
"Balujizan is one of the villages of Serakhs, in the direction of Herat, between him and Serakhs 5 farces.
Baluz is one of the villages of Nisa, 3 farces and 400 (elbows?) From him, I went there."
ABU-SA'D AS-SAMANI
BOOK OF GENEALOGY NAMES
KITAB AL-ANSAB
Soviet historian M.Pikulin considers them Baloch.
The Parthians made a great contribution to the Rajputs, Persians and Turkmen, many Parthian-Balochi tribes disappeared among these people, if someone says that some tribe are not Balochi but this tribe Rajput origin, (?) Then remember more of the Rajputs are descendants of Balochas!
