BAGHDAD (Reuters) - An Australian television station broadcast previously unpublished images on Wednesday of apparent abuse of prisoners at the U.S.-run     Abu Ghraib prison, outraging Iraqis who said American troops must leave. 
 
The Special Broadcasting Service's "Dateline" current affairs program said the images were recorded at the same time as the now-infamous pictures of U.S. soldiers abusing Abu Ghraib detainees which sparked international outrage in 2004.

Some of the newly broadcast pictures suggest further abuse such as killing, torture and sexual humiliation, Dateline said.

The grainy, still photographs and video images show prisoners, some bleeding or hooded, bound to beds and doors, sometimes with a smiling American guard beside them.

They include two naked men handcuffed together, a pile of five naked detainees photographed from the rear, and a dog straining at a leash close to the face of a crouching man wearing a bright orange jumpsuit.

The images were swiftly re-broadcast by Arab satellite television stations and several news organizations, including American ABC News television, showed them on their Web sites.

They stirred up more anger among Arabs, already incensed by the publication on Sunday of images of British soldiers apparently beating Iraqi youths and by cartoons satirizing the Prophet Mohammad printed in European papers this month.

"The new pictures reignited the long-running pain that started with the occupation of     Iraq. It angered me deeply, stabbed me in the heart to see my people paying for no reasonable reason," said Iraqi teacher Hanan Adeeb, 34.

"What hurts me more is for the world to see us tortured in this way without blinking an eye. When I see this I understand why people think the only way to get Iraq out of this dilemma is to send the Americans away no matter how."

The Washington Post has released new photos along with new information about the use of dogs on prisoners.

An unmuzzled dog appears to be used to frighten a detainee at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.
Two military dog handlers told investigators that intelligence
personnel ordered them to use dogs to intimidate prisoners.

ABC News has obtained two new photos taken at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq showing Spc. Charles Graner and Spc. Sabrina Harmon posing over the body of a detainee who was allegedly beaten to death by CIA or civilian interrogators in the prison's showers. The detainee's name was Manadel al-Jamadi. I love it how the media networks will not show the faces of Mohammed in the cartoons when they are covering the story, saying it will "fan the flames" of the extremist rioting, but at the same time are quite willing to show every single "abuse" photo they can get their grubby mitts on.

If a govt is reflection of its people. Then we have seen the ugly face of america. I cant believe there are no mass protest by the free, freedom loving american against their govts doing the world over.

Thanks for the witticism.  Furthermore, I can't stand most of the "messengers'" messages and I do blame them failing to report the news as news without using it for their propaganda campaign.  So what's your point?  I have always had no reservations in amplifying my disgust at the American media.

What should they do then? Keep it under the table?
Why should the media report only atrocities committed by others on Americans and not the other way around?
People who claim this is all propaganda probably only care because it is propaganda for the other side. If the media blows a terrorist threat way out of proportion they don't have a problem with such propaganda.

These came from the same time line as the others. Twenty five officers and soldiers have all recieved some kind of punishment depending on how far their involvement was. The investigation was done to see how far up in the military ranks it went, even Donald Rumsfield was investigated. 

About there being protests, there have been protests from the beginning of the war. Do you honestly belive Cindy Shehan has stopped her protesting? They aren't shown on the news because they don't break things, they aren't violent, and there is nothing to make news off of it so you won't hear about them.

My opinion, it's very disgusting. I'm glad this isn't something that the US military supports. And no Malizai, Americans don't support this thing. There are hundreds of groups in the US that complain and file lawsuits against the gov't for numerous reasons. I mean, there's even a group that filed a lawsuit on the US government for enviromental reasons just recently. We are very free minded people, we are individuals, and we all have our own personal opinions on politics. There's no way you could say we all agree with this.

A good example, look at all the Americans on this message board, we all very on our politics and we are always disagreeing on how things should be done.

George Negus has become very bold since Howard passed the anti-terror laws. Thats the second major anti-american story he has broken. I'm surprised little jonnie howard hasn't tried to shut dateline down, or at least silence it.

There is alot of media here that criticizes the government and the war, there is no way they could shut down any of the news outlets.

Though recently I found out why Fox news supports Bush so much. The Director of the news proudcasts at Fox news is President Bush's cousin.

I don't really think the incident had gotten to far out. It was a isolated incident, and it was investigated. This is something the US would not want to do, and there was no reason for it. This was a incident done by animals who thought toying with helpless prisoners would give them a good time. There was nothing political about it, it was just a sad incident done by a bunch of idiots.

But I have to admit at least that the American system is far way better than most of world systems. At least once these photos are shown, some prosecution is followed. In some incidence, Americans are the one who would take the stand to show the photos for the first time (ex. the famous video of the killing of an unarmed injured civlian in the Fallujah mosque)
