Topic: Three Islamic Wonders Posted: 20-Jul-2005 at 07:37 |
guys this topic is about "Islamic wonders" if there are such things, so please stick to the topic
and Turkish members from Turkey, i guess there aren't any more Turkey's Islamic wonders left to show us so dont start another topic and spoil this one, if you are keen in discussing orgines and stuff like that make a new Thread.

i mean the Islamic wonders in Turkey are the mosques which were posted earlier by other members, so i guess there are no more wonders to show.
and i see people starting to change the topic and talk about Genes and origins and this is another topic.
so its better to make a new thread about that and keep this thread to "Islamic Wonders"
i think Islamic Building would be more appropriate name.
but anyway please stick to the topic.
this Sulymania Mosque looks very nice, is it a museum or still mosque people can pray in it?

The differences here between turk and persian are very obvious. it is a
variety of styles that leads to islamic wonders of beauty. this, in my
opinion falls down to the idea of sunni vs shia. Sunni mosques
are large, sometimes even gigantic, generally made of stone but with
and interior of marble and the such. This is the turksih style. Turks
accepted islam through persia, not arabia. hence the moving of the
capital to isfahan by malik shah in the seljuk dynasty.the
persian/shii'te strives for a different goal in life. Not vast or large
but breathtaking none the less. That is why shia's idolize pictures of
people like ali and such. shia art is very cocnerend about DETAILS. it
is the details we see in isfahan and all over iran that counters
ottoman with safaviad styles. turkish minarets are large and stony with
1 cone oif bronze on the top. Persian minarets are shorter double
glazed in brick and tile, inscriptions and holy words run across the
turquoise paint fludily like water. Turks and arabs belive that the
beauty of islam is not the mosque, it is the person. and it is only
natural, for persians to go against this belief as they have gone
against every hing in order to make themselves known as a people.
