Muslims voted to a Zoroastrian in Iran!

It was another good news after the win of Rohani, as you probably know, the city council election also took palce alongside the presidential election in Iran, probably for the first time in the modern history of Iran, a Zoroastrian, named Sepanta Niknam, was elected to city council in city of Yazd, the interesting thing is that the number of people who voted to him was four times more than the whole Zoroastrian population of Yazd!

At times, I am depressed about the substitution of something as Just and progressive as  Zoroastrian Persia with an Islamic state. I know that did not happen by choice but by a cruel bend of fate.


But when I see thousands upon thousands of Iranians in youtube and else where muster the courage and will to renounce the ideology which was forced on them and to return to what they once were, my faith in Civilization is strengthened.

No other Islamic country with a non Islamic history that ended with a religious army invading them has ever shown the resilience to undo the effects even after so many centuries. Other such nations are progressively murdering the spirit of free thinking and secularism.

I am so happy to coexist with Zoroastrians in India, to have their love, to know that they have helped India more than India helped them, to know that at least they know, of the billions, the true threat that fundamentalism poses to humanity.

Great news indeed. It shows the true spirit of Iranian culture, the essence of which is tolerance.

My father told me a few maybe 4-5 years ago that Iran has system for minorities. In every election, there are a few seats for them. Is it true? 

Same system also had in Turkey. We called it "minority quota" It began with Ataturk in 1935 but ended. Are you continuing this system?

Of course in the parliament, there are five seats for Iran's religious minorities: three for Christians(two Armenians + one Assyrian & Chaldean), one for Jews and one for Zoroastrians. But the important point is that Muslims can't vote to them, in fact the followers of each religion can just vote to their own candidates.
 
Dr. Aref, the only reformist candidate in the presidental election who dropped out of the race and for this reason had a very important role in the victory of Rohani, had said that he plans to establish a special tribes and religions organization under a Vice President in order to address the problems of the minorities in the country, of course it is not clear Rohani will do the same or not, he has already just promised that he will build a cultural center for the Azeri language and culture.

Similar in Turkey. After that system(1960), Turkey had just ten(nearly-maybe less) politicion in parliament.

It is good and also bad. 

Good, because even minorities can't enact laws as majorities. It helps world and all country to hear their voice.

Bad, because if this is necessity, that means majority doesn't protect minorities' rights and also it also helps to contiune religion division as muslim and others.
