Australian new flag, what happened?

I have remembered a discussion about  changing national flag in Australia. What happened? Why they stopped?

No govt action since 94, iirc.
Different bills have been shut down since 83-96 by coalition PM's.
Latest poll shows sharp decline in favoritism hence interest.

All countries have pasts Ollios. You know this. And many were dominated by others. Australia's includes 'primarily' that of Britain up to and including today. From it's settlement by British colonialists, prisoners, etc. Their history is Britain and native. And while like any other nation they are hosts to many immigrants and varying cultural assimilations...the Aussie's right now must still like that Union Jack.

The shame is not the flag... but how the natives were treated for so many years by the conquerors. Because at some point cultural diversity from a liberal, socialist, mentality viewpoint would often do away with the historical record. Merely to be 'politically current' in the current era's definition.

Denial of a nation's history to be 'pc' is bullshit amigo.

It's not a question of apologizing LL. That's for moralist, whiners, theologians and philosophers. It's a question of remembering history good and bad and acknowledging the influence of the British empire in Aussieland.

The pc wacks down there as a result of a misguided sense of cultural diversity wanted to incorporate a 'gay pride' 'black liberation theology' type, emblem representative of all cultures in the flag as I understood it.

Not necessary. But it's their's not mine.

And as you well know...ya known me for a while now; I admit to the poor treatment of the abos from a moral perspective as a human being with a sense of morality.... even tho not often voiced. But as a historian, I know damn well that wasn't the only place it ever occurred. And I understand the contextual reasons why as well.

Otoh, I don't confuse either with the record or attempt to obfuscate it with a pre arranged agenda of what ever type...good or bad. I merely know their both part of the record.

And that's the gawdamn story I'm sticking with eh. lol.

the history behind the flags of Turkey? Perhaps you might expand on it and give your opinion.
