What can be said about the name Assara Mazash which appears in Ashurbanipal's records c. 750 BCE?  What is interesting about this anomaly is that not only is the name akin to the name Ahura Mazda, but the records also mention 7 good spirits (and those of the Annunaki) just like there are 7 Amesha Spentas in Zoroastrianism.  From what I understand Assara Mazash is a pre-Zoroastrian phenomenon.  Given that the first part of the name Assara resembles Asura I can see why its thought to be pre-Zoroastrian, but what about the 7 good spirits.  7 good spirits comparable to these aren't mentioned in Indo-Aryan texts are they?
