I couldn't post here, so I open a new thread.

Samuel Huntington is dead. Unfortunately he will not see the inauguration of the first Mulatto President of the United States, Barack Obama-a good Man, but Huntington saw the recent process of the fast and steady decline of the United States economy and international influence as a prospect and a trend for this new century.
Greece and Rome were the first models of a Western Society and both were as slavers as Brazil has been for centuries. The Portuguese language, the Catholic religion in Brazil are more associated to the Roman Empire than any language or religion in North Europe or North America. The Brazilian ruling class consists of the first Portuguese colonists that created the country and organized the economy and as a social group this original social class has been able to defeat all other European powers in the Atlantic South America, so the Portuguese Elite in Brazil admixed or not has defeated several enemies like the Northern Protestant Dutch in the worst colonial war in America in the 1600's. The Roman Law is the basis of the Brazilian Law and Institutions. Africans brought to Brazil, the biggest number brought to America, are better in Brazil than in any African nation in terms of human development and they have been improving their lot. The Amerindians in Brazil are much better in Brazil than in a country like Bolivia where they are the majority. So the Colonial Portuguese stock in Brazil is one of the most successful social groups in the world because they have assembled a new Monster Country, one of the biggest countries and economies of the world from such a small basis and coming from such a small and poor country that is Portugal and the Brazilian Elite has always enjoyed a good and rich life in Brazil with all the Western cultural elements and fortunes. Brazil belongs more to the Western World than most of the social or ethnic groups in the United States or even northern European countries like the Scandinavian ones that have distant links to the Roman Empire, for instance.

Of course Bandeirante, Brazil is part of the Western World. Direct descendent of Rome through Iberia. The problem with Huntington is that for him only "pure" European people are part of the Western World, so he used a racist scheme to take out not only Brazil but the whole Latin America.

Huntington was an ignorant and represented the worst of the ignorant classes of the U.S. That's all.

With respect to Obama, the U.S. was shocked to know a mulatto would be a president of the U.S. for the first time on history, and some would say it was the first time a non-white took power in the West. What a wrong statement when in Latin America we have have presidents of Mulatto, Mestizo, Indigenous and even Japanese origin, and nobody even though that was strange.

Well, at least to victory of Obama killed Huntington of a heart attack.

There is a reason you can't post there, because to post in Current Affairs you need 100 posts. As this issue is already being discussed in the already existing Huntington topic this new thread will be closed. Be patient, post around - and you'll be able to share your opinions there in no time.
