I have gotten interested in geneology, and have recently found, in spite of the fact that I am an adoptee, that my great granfather was cousin to Amanullah Khan of the Barakzai Dynasty of Afghanistan. The question I am asking is whether the Barazaki Dynasty was related to Genghis Khan, or is the Khan was just there to make it look as if they were direct descendants of him?

The reason I am wondering is because I think it would be freaking AWESOME if I was related to Ghenghis Khan. Of course, it is hard to trace Afghan bloodlines here in America, so I cannot really find out. Practacly nobody knows anything about the people of this family that came before Dost Mohammad Khan, so I am finding it hard, even with the internet. Thanks
