NWFP will be renamed as Pakhtunistan: Durrani

Source:  Geonews

CHARSADDA 23.01.2007: NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has said that the province will be renamed as Pakhtunistan and his government would complete the process.

Addressing an Ulema convention at Charsadda Durrani said that the MMA government has served the province more in its four-years tenure than the parties who are boasting for the provinces rights for last 55 years.

We had presented the first resolution for change of the name of the province and the existing government would now complete the process by changing the provinces name, he said.

He said Frontier stands fourth in corruption in the country with Punjab at the top.

Durrani said that construction of dam in Malakand would make vast tracts of barren land cultivable and the province will become self-sufficient in agriculture commodities.

Never happen. Chances of the center agreeing to its are zero, especially since NWFP has a large (and vocal) non Pakhtun minority.

You're probably right on that one.   It's too bad.
