Hello,
I am to write a paper about the colonization by Western society of a non-western society anytime during the time period of 1750-1917. I don't particularly want to speak of the obvious: Britain/U.S., Britain/India, Britain/Africa, all those ones that first come to mind. Does anyone have an idea for an obscure colonized area? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

This topic is also being discussed in the Cultural History forum. As that on has more replies so far, I'll close this one.

Women hold their councils of war in kitchens: the knives are there, and the cups of coffee, and the towels to dry the tears.
