They called him abtar, that meaning something like impotent, or castrated, because he never did produce a male descendent. That was the biggest hancicap an arab could ever have.
|
The Prophet (peace be upon Him) was alive then to defend himself. His companions were alive to defend him, too. Do you take pleasure in insulting people who cannot defend themselves?
Moreover, Islam was in its initial phases. Did they dare insult him after the conquering of Mecca?
In any case, we're talking about the present day. Muslims are already subject to hate crimes and black humor everywhere. That doesn't make headlines and Muslims generally ignore that. So why did they have to insult the person of the Prophet (peace be upon Him)?
|
Diagoras, some 2500 yrs before, did throw the wooden image of a god into a fire, remarking that the deity cant revenge the act. A christian saint, some 1800 yrs ago, has destroyed the candles in an pagan temple, exclaiming: Let your God revenge on me, if hes able to do it! So, I guess Mahomed, the best friend of almighty Alah, gont need self-apointed lawyers here, on earth, as it doesnt need nowhere. >>

I can handle insults as well.
If someone gets to know me as a person and
doesn't like me, that's fine - lots of people don't.
But if someone dislikes me from the start, because
I'm a woman, or I'm Muslim, or I'm wearing a bomb
around my waist and chanting Death to
America...that pisses me off.

Suha Arafat is a myth, have you ever seen a photo of
her?
It's Ariel Sharon in drag, I'm telling you. The truth will
be revealed someday, and I will roll over in my grave
and shout: HA! I told you so.
Only no one will hear me.
Unless I'm being dug up for some reason.

That's very off-topic, and I can't answer that question, simply because I don't know.

I dont think Im entirely wrong. It's a simple fact in most of the world.
I say this because the outrage comes from imams and young Muslim men usually.
Not every country is as liberal as the UAE. Go to Saudi Arabia and see what happens if you g outside without a man accompanying you.

Well you say most of the world believes he was murdered, she is the only person on this planet that can provide the information, whether he was or wasnt. Why isnt there outrage for her to release those records? That's where this energy should be concentrated not on some dumb comic book.

And not all countries are conservative as Saudi Arabia?
You may want to look up our local newspapers; most of those who went on demonstrations were women, lol.

Don't twist and misinterpret His words; it was said as a joke to a group of women.
It's interesting to see how non-Muslim men think though.

In fact this boycott is so ridiculous I'll go to the supermarket
tomorrow and buy a Scandinavian product. I call on other members who
support free speech to do the same.

As our friend above said, we're offtopic with that historical detail of M's life, and all that I wish ypu know, is that a lot of people after M., took not as a joke his sayings. And there is no mean to proove that his words can be understood unequivocally as the simple joke you see.

the boycott is something denmark and norway, and in fact whole europe should accept as the normal price for liberty; thousnand people, large masses in the past, sacrificed their lives, for what we today take as guaranted or worthless . . . only because we always experienced them day after day . . . In fact, our muslim brothers serve us a good lesson of morality and sens of value.

Why do we have to live in a world in which religion can override everything? The "freedom of expression" gives every religious group a well-deserved voice. Why can't religion give "freedom of expression" the equal respect and an equal chance????

Off-topic, yes. You will know He meant it as a joke if you read the Seerah (biography).
You know nothing about the Prophet, yet feel no embarrassment to
display your ignorance so openly. At least do some reading before
trying to debate something.
The boycott is a political statement that can be seen as a form of political freedom. We're progressing in that field.

We've been going in circles for some time now. Why can't you get the point?
What has freedom of expression got to do with insults? Many
people, especially Orientalists, have said many negative things about
the Prophet (peace be upon Him). No one went crazy over
that. People will write books about him, and others will answer
them with other books. That's freedom of expression. Say
what you want, as long as you don't mean to insult others.
Translate these cartoons into written paragraphs, I'm sure they would
have been less upsetting. All you would have seen as a reaction
to that is local Danish Muslims writing the newspaper refuting and
correcting the claims.
