Yomud, your over reacting just a little. But it's a good thing to at least be aware of the problem. Over use and over exposure to antibiotics is the main cause. In the US even if you never took antibs, they were used heavily in beef cattle, chickens etc., so there was exposure to them. 2 years ago my younger sister nearly lost a leg to "Mersa", the resistant flesh eating bacteria. She was hospitalised for 5 weeks. Isolation etc. but she recovered, they do have treatments for these resistant strains.
Flu and colds are viral and not effected by antibiotics.
Maybe MountainMan, who is a Dr. could give us more on it.

Overuse of antibiotics in animals and over-treatment of humans have resulted in a number of disease resistant strains, including MARSA, Tuberculosis, and streptococcus. Once they have taken hold in the human body, they are incredibly difficult to eradicate. Westerners are especially at risk, particularly Americans, who have come to expect a pill for everything, and demand antibiotics for the common cold and the flu.
There is another threat, however, and that is tolerance to drugs. Gonnorhea once was easily and effectively treated with a single injection of 600,000 units of penicillin. It now requires 9.6 million units, and many diseases are resistant entirely to penicillin. Where tuberculosis was once treated with a single drug, the current
regimen is four to five drugs concurrently, and it takes much longer to
eradicate.
Although every effort is made to come up with new drugs, the side effects/adverse effects of a lot of the new medications are often worse that the disease it is aimed at.
Next time you watch television, pay attention to the drug ads, especially when the voice-over lists the potential adverse effects. Many of the commonly advertised drugs for things like depression and arthritis have horrendous potential effects up to and including death.
Should a resistant disease pandemic arise, the Western World will take the brunt of it. The so-called Third World have far better immune systems since they are not constantly subjected to a barrage of antibiotics.

I believe a lot of anti-biotics are pumped into the feed of factory farmed animals, this is to stop them getting diseases while living in such close quarters. I believe battery chickens are the worst offenders. So people who eat a lot of meat from these animals are getting low doses of anti-biotics every time they do, which is technically an inoculation against anti-biotics.
Some patients go into hospital and the doctors give them the dose of anti-biotics appropriate to the treatment and it has no effect, so they try a larger dose and that fails, so have to give an even larger one. Often by the time they get the dose right, it's too late for the patient.

Spend more time outdoors exposed to the elements and the airborne bacteria. Develop your immune system back to where it should be. Eat properly, rest properly and exercise. Turn your heat down in the winter, and your air conditioning up in the summer. And read the labels on what you eat. You wont develop nearly as many illnesses as those who don't do this.
And above all accept that illnesses are Nature's way of strengthening your immune system.

Very good advice. I use supplements such as vitimin C also. Thinking about it, I pretty much follow MM's advice, and haven't had a cold in 3 years. [That may also be due to a natural resistance to some virus's that runs in my family]
