I don't know... it's hard to picture that dogs and monkeys won when we are running with them with leash around their neck... Um... animal rights are cool...

I heard about a stupid rumor about how Turkish scientists tried to open trade routes with "Lunar civilization" by using gigantic Turkish cannon as human launcher to the Moon... but I think it's just a fictional rumor. Anyone else heard about this?

never heard of it, but it sounds extremely similar to the plot in the sci-fiction "From the Earth to the Moon" written by Jules Verne.

On the brighter side, locusts can be quite tasty when fried. Wouldn't they be taster than grasshoppers, since they are more active physically?
It's the Asian thing.

Lol, I remember it now. I am not sure if the title was the same, but it was based on the prologue story 10,000 League Under the Sea. It was about how Captain Nemo was enslaved by the Ottoman Turks, and stole their latest submarine... right? Got to remember not to get confused with fiction and non-fiction
A good book, by the way.

Plenty of visual evidence that it did. hard evidence in the form of samples. Testimony from those who did it.
Any reason to suppose it didn't happen ? Any of them ?

Well, the Space Race is still going on. But the people that is winning it, so far, are not large countries with king size egos, but a private company.
Space Ship One, the prototipe. Winner of the X prize for reaching 100 kms of altitude.
And the real space ship is comming: Space ship two:
The "airline" company is called Virgin Gallactic, the builder is called Scaled Composited, and the space genious that own both and is the designer is Burt Rutan(right)
This is a suborbital plane, though, so there is still job to do. Scaled composites plans to build Space Ship Three, and orbital ship, if space ship two is sucessful.
Watch the movie

Although I tend to agree with your view that the 'Space Race' didn't simply end with launching the first satellite / animal / human into orbit, I'm not sure that what any private companies have done to date really rivals the achievements of the US, or of Russia for that matter. Not YET anyway.

OK, conspiracy theories - well ultimately it comes down to whether one accepts the general 'scientific principle' of the simplest explanation being the best. Sure, one could simply argue that any evidence to support the argument that the landings actually happened was contrived in order to perpetuate the hoax. But at some point doesn't the effort to create and maintain the deception actually exceed the effort necessary to actually accomplish the act legitimately? If the landings truly were a hoax, why repeat the effort? Wouldn't once be sufficient to 'prove the point'? Repeating it again and again simply increases the number of people involved and therefore increases the risk of the deception being exposed. Look at the nature of the Lunar Landing Module. The 'base' was left behind on the surface. If the entire thing was 'faked', why add that complicating aspect? It would be a lot 'neater' and 'cleaner' to leave nothing behind, and thereby leave no trace that the landing had occurred. The number of people who would have to have been involved in order to perpetuate such a hoax is simply too great for it to be a viable explanation.

Absolutely!
To verify that people landed on the moon, the only things needed is to go back there and see the bases of the moon modules of the Apollo 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17, that has to be somewhere in the surface. In there must be still not only the moon cars and gears, but also organic remains! So, sooner of later the conspiracy theory will be shown false.

The conspiracy theory [if you even want to call it that] is already proven false. The only people who put any stock in it are a bunch of nutters, ultra religous goofballs and those folks who hate the US so much they cannot stand the idea that the US actually achieved such.
It also helps if your to young to have been alive at that time. Someone who wasn't hasn't a clue as to the monumental effort that went into it, and the hundreds of thousands of people whose efforts made it possible. There were just too many people involved for a secret such as that would have been, to have held up for so long.
If anyone needs actual proof of the landing there is plenty available right now. The laser targets placed on the moon by the crews, the hugh amounts of rock and other materials brought back etc. etc.
The arguments the anti's have used are so thin you could read this post thru them. All of them have been debunked by many, but here is one of the best sites for that.
