I don't see how Bush Jnr has proved Bush snr right at all? |
Bush Sr. thought that an occupation of Iraq would be a disaster.
Bush Jr. proved him to be absolutely right. Bush Sr. probably had a
much better idea of local politics than Bush Jr., who had absolutely no
clue of the power structure of Iraq other than that Saddam was ruler
(precisely the reason he thought they would be greeted as liberators).
And Bush Sr. was not stupid enough to empower his biggest enemy in
the region (Iran), by destroying its most powerful rival and neighbor while leaving
his own army there to rack up casualties.

I disagree. I think the Historical situation is completely different. Had Bush Snr invaded - the situation in Iraq would have been better.
Defeating a leader who looks and is in a position of weakness, is far better than taking a unilateral decision to invade Iraq for false reasons.
In the period before, terrorism/extremism was less significant worldwide. The Iraqi people would have been more supportive of the US, which had a better reputation worldwide than under Bush jr.
So I don't neccesarily think Bush Jr has proved Bush Snr right - I think you cannot compare the situations. I think that many of the failures of Bush Jr and actually to do with Bush Snr in the first place.
