I think protest is related with the personality of dink too. I am curious If Orhan Pamuk would get so much protest.

I don't know why you're so defensive over this, AyKurt, one positive outcome of this is that it has shattered some preconceptions and prejudices of Turks held by some.
That can only be good.

I really dont think Turks posting on these boards expected rallies numbering in thousands...nor did those nationalists who murdered Dink
Istanbul has a large Armenian population, some estimates are 100-150,000, I remember there being alot in "KinaliAda" and certain districts in Istanbul, even in the Grand Bazaar there are Armenian traders. They live life, get on with their neighbours, this killing was a tragedy and an awfull crime against the peacefull Armenian community of Istanbul and Turkey. Nationalists don't support what happened, their just as sickened.

Mehmet Agar, the leader of a conservative - nationalist party, DYP, labeled this incident as 'unnecessary' on the TV.
As you can see nationalists do not care about Dink's life. They are protesting, because Turkey's image has been harmed.
If Dink's death served Turkey's interests somehow, noone would be bothered.

well it certainly has served the interests of those who dont want to
join the EU...hopefully now there would be a greater push and
committment towards joining the EU from the public.

Indeed, that is a little weird. They love turkishness, they believe turkishness is a holy thing, but with their belief they created a turkish murderer and they dont even see this. Stupidy.

Not really. Everybody suspects ultra nationalists right now.
The perfect environment for them to create conspiracy theories like: "A foreign secret service did it and made people blame us."

It's not the murderer but the people who put him up to it that need to be caught and their motives understood. He's a 17 year old kid paid to do someone elses dirty work. Therefore there will be conspiracies and load's of stories as its unlikey the one's behind it get exposed. The reason behind the last Judge killed is still not known.

It could be anyone, baseless accusations arn't going to solve much, it would be convenient if it was just a nutcase with no motive but it rarely is but he'll probobly be the one who get's the blamed as nobody wants to delve into who could have put him up to this. Look what happened in Itally when some brave judges tried to expose the people who were organising pollitical murders, murders of judges and journalists, there was a series of bombings. Even look at the Agaca case, the Itallian report said that he was working for the Soviets however, he comitted other murders in Turkey the motive behind these are unknown still, he was just a hitman, hitmen do their job.

I'm quite positive that a nationalist group is behind this assassination. (I am not saying this to blame all nationalists, don't get me wrong.)

It's what was said about Agaca, which turned out to be wrong. You could be correct, then again it could be anyone so anybody could be correct.

The triggerman is a bait; the organization is behind
A
top level authority told Sabah: "they wanted to make the suspect
intentionally. Their aim is to make people say the incident is solved
and to conceal the unseen actual target.
The suspect did not
throw off his beret and carried his gun after the murder. So, his
arrest was wanted. The suspect had only 1 YTL when he was caught. His
radius of movement was narrowed by leaving him short of money in
Istanbul.

...Furthermore, the news agency claimed that Kucuk was organizing
nationalist circles in Azerbaijan and established a murder network
against Armenians. The agency said it based this claim on information
obtained in 2001 from Turan A., the nephew of Azerbaijan's then
Interior Minister Siyavuz Mustafa . The news also accused Turkey's
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) of illegally training soldiers with
Kucuk in Azerbaijan....
