My own favourite art form. To me this is beauty and immortality in one. Hope you agree!
First some well known pieces:
My personal favourite ; Tutankhamun's throne. Note the intricate details in the clothing and even the hair. You can imagine the high level of craftsmanshiop needed. The viberant colours bring the piece to life.
Possibly Ancient Egypt's most iconic image, the Death Mask of Tutankhamun is of the finest pieces of art in the ancient world. It is a combination of pure Gold and semi-precious stones like Obsidian and Lapis Lazuli and caputres the youth of the King to a tee.
Riviled only by the Famous deathmask above in its beauty the famous Amarna bust of Nefertiti is a testament to a powerful and beautiful woman. The incredible life-like nature of the pieces is its greatest feature for me.
This famous image from the Egyptian Book of the Dead depicting the weighing of the heart ceremony is a prime example Papyrus art.
Tomb paintings were especially beautiful and important becuase they were the means by which the dead person could travel safely from this world to the next. This image comes from the Tomb of Sennedjem.
This is the Coffin of Princess Maakre from the reigh of Pharoah Pinedjem I. Egyptian Sarcophogi were generally of anthropod form and were brightly carved and painted with images of the Gods and death rituals on them. The Pharaohs would ahve had coffins of pure Gold like Tuts famous assembledge
