Here's the first land warrior system. With the scope on gun to see around walls, and the computer systems. The systems will be in use in 2007 according to the article below.

Have you noticed that everyone's soldiers are starting to look exactly the same?

Well everyone who could is going to copy the US military, just like the US will copy anyone who has developed something better. But currently the US leads the way, and just above that picture Jinanren posted with the camera on the gun and eye pieve on the helmet was influenced by the US. The US has been developing it for years. It looks to close to our own to really say that they came up with it themselves, then again probably not much you can do outside of that.

But that's how the Romans became great, take the best from the enemy and use on them.

The Aus Navy > new projects and ones just complteted

Eight of these have just been built + 2 more for new zealand. Based of a german Meko Design

• 32 evolved seasparrows in a verticle luancher
• 8 harpoons BkII
• indegoius countermeasures/phased array radar has just been developed
• 1 seasprite helicopter (bad choice)
• 127mm gun at the front

3 of destroyers based on this (Arleigh Burke class) will be built, but based on a newer design so it should look different when they sought out the details
weapons fit hasnt been decided but. Aigis yes, lots of SM-3 yes, and maybe tomahawks


The Collins class Sub, six of these, based on a swedish(gotland?) design but alot bigger and built here. The first two are lemons but theve got it right now, and use more US technology.  Can hold 22 harpoons or torpedoes (6x533mm) and has a big range.

Gave the US navy a good hiding in some war games in hawaii a few years ago.


The design hasnt been settled yet but this is ADI's picture for the two new amphiboius assult ships currently up for tender, each one has to take around 500 troops and equipment, heli lift....

Ah, well, a short post here, not so familiar with the issue, but since I believe the other Swedes (who haven't made military service. Bah. Sissies ) here are even less so, I'll take it as my duty.

Sweden makes a lot of its equipment by itself, including the mechanized units, ships, submarines and aircraft.

Armoured combat vehicle CV90 (Stridsfordon 90), the most modern of its kind. This pic is from the Swedish unit in Liberia I think.


Different versions are used, including mortar vehicles.


The Swedish version of the German Leopard 2, Stridsvagn 122, with a new tower, more armour, new engines and electric system was considered the best MBT out there, but the others have caught up now, especially after the Americans have used theirs in battle and been able to updrage them properly.



Native Bofors guns and German howitzers take up most of the artillery iirc, but a new automatic system is coming into use soon, the Bofors ARCHER, where the artillerymen doesn't even have to leave the comfy cabin to operate it.

(and yeah, of course it's a Volvo dumper in case somebody was in doubt )


the navy

Sweden has much fewer subs these days, but the Gotland class is top notch, one of the few silent stirling equipped subs in use, in fact the first to use air-independent propulsion. There was some Discovery show on those, but I didn't see it.

The new corvetts of the Visby class are the first true stealth ships. They officially kick butt.



And in the air, Gripen makes up for most of the air force, and a total of 204 are ordered.


The helicopter arm is currently equipped with derelicts from the Vietnam war and some Pumas, but are soon to be equipped with the European Tigers (french-made?).


Almost forgot Stridsb�t 90 (battleboat 90), used by the coastal rangers to transport troops. Really quick boat, can make a full stop from full speed of 30 knots in 20 meters only. You could have fun with one of these.
