in july of 452, Attila went through the Rome with his 100,000 horsemen after conquered the castle Aquileia(in venice). Rome senate sent  the Pope Leo 1 to negotiate with Attila! after the negotiation, Attila forgave Rome like the Constantinople in 447(Anatolios Peace Treatment). Now i m asking: what if Attila conquer Rome, what would happen?

He would have sacked it and went back back home.

 Forgave Rome for what exactly?

If he had taken Rome, he'd of sacked it massacred the population and razed it to the ground like a typical Hun and then withdraw, pretty predictable really.

The result would be we'd have 1 less beautiful city in the world to admire and the western empire (such as it was) would probably have collapsed just that bit earlier. Not that it mattered since the western empire was alreayd pretty much doomed, the Huns really came to late to events.

EDIT: Just incase somebody feels the urge to say Pope Leo convinced Attila to turn around I feel I should say that that is a total myth and has been discussed more times than I dare coutn on here already.

Indeed Heraclius. timurshah, have you considered that Attila did not have the ability to do so?
