And at the time of Pearl Harbor the top US Navy Command was called CINCUS (pronounced "sink us"),

This one did it for me most:

"You can't even shoot straight" yelled the Romanian dictator, Ion Antonescu (who hated the Russians with a passion) after two attempts to execute him by a Russian firing squad. A Soviet officer had to administer the coup de grace.

Actually, I find that kind of admirable. The man knew he was dead anyway.

Apparently when Winston Churchill was giving his famous speech: "We shall fight them on the beaches, we shall fight them in the hills, [...] we shall never surrender", at one point he said to one of his aides in a low voice:

"We shall hit them over the head with beer bottles, because we don't have anything else"!
