My Dad passed 2 years ago. It was the first time I was able to go through his personal papers. I found his original FBI secret clearance report, dated 1956.
In the family connections section it stated there was a great aunt that had gone to Aus. I knew about my Great Grandfather and his brother, but this was the first I knew of a sister. Information was little, I don't even know her first name, only Mrs. Joseph Begley, of Perth Au. She went to Perth sometime in the 1870's.

There is an entire branch of my family that I know nothing about. I've tried the major ancestry sites with no results. Does anyone know of sites dealing with Australia only?

I have a keen interest in Genealogy, and have done research on my family tree.

During that process, I haven't seen any sites which would detail migrations from the USA to Australia. Most sites deal with convicts transported from the British Isles, and some relate to free settlers.

People, mostly unaccompanied men, came to Australia in droves to work in the Australian Gold Fields. Kalgoorlie, in Western Australia was one such place and is still today.

If I can find anything of value to you, I'll send it to you by PM.

In the meantime, have a look at
 http://www.slq.qld.gov.au/resources/family-history/immigration#wa
 which could get you started.

Heya Red, I think you once mentioned this before without any details and i'd forgotten.

Red could you post or p.m. me the maiden surname and the place or state in the USA where she came from? I have a casual try and see what i can find if i have the time etc. As you know i'm pretty good at solving historical mysteries (witness "(King) Arthur's" 9 battle sites, Robin Hood, Atlantis Tiahuanaco, JTR, Judge Crater, Moses, Joseph in Egypt, early popes list, water fluoridation answer, etc etc etc over the last few years).

Only one Aussie/Oz result there on opposite side of the landmass. But plenty of USA and 1800s results.

Has a Grace Begley, and a Eileen Begley, in Perth, ca 1880.

I've put together this list of online genealogy sites & forums (not just Oz/US/Eire):

There might also be some local Australian/USA history/etc forums you could ask on.

If you work back from yourself filling in a free family tree on myheritage going back to your great grand father and his bro and sister you may get matches if you enter in the names, places and dates details that you gave here, and you can try like i did with mine entering different first names to see if matches come up.

Regards Sean.

Thanks for the interest guys. I missed a couple of important details. She immigrated from Ireland, not the US and her maiden name was Scott.
I will check out the sites you've given me

Did she migrate to WA direct from Ireland, or via the USA?

She went directly from Ireland, as did her brothers. The brothers came to the US.

Just one other question, was Jose Begley also from Ireland or from Perth? &/or Did they marry in Ireland or in Perth?

He was from Perth, afaik they were married in Perth. Only guesses, like I posted before, I don't really know anything about her.

I don't believe Dad knew about her either. During WWII his Amphib. Squadron landed in Aus. and NZ several times. I'm sure he would have made contact had he known.

I've not had  much luck so far. May be difficult for me to find anything without knowing either/both of: one of her brother's (1st & last) names or her father's (1st & last) name, and/or what place or area of Ireland she/family came from, but possibly you might not want me &/or anyone else to know that (you know mine i think)?

Right names and about right time but wrong place:
http://www.ancestry.com/genealogy/records/catherine-elizabeth-scott_62376117
(Are you sure she was Scott and it was Perth W Australia. Couldn't be Perth Scotland possibly? or Perry County US?)

Begley, & Scott family in Aussie:
http://search.ancestry.com.au/cgi-bin/sse.dll?=%2C&gsfn=Daniel&gsln=Begley&gss=angs-g&gl=42&so=2

Irish Begleys, and Australian Begleys in rootschat search for 'begley' (i can't paste a link as it doesn't give a proper address bar link when done the search). (97 results.)

I found the other thread.topic on here when searching net/web:
http://www.allempires.com/Forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=35857

Also i am and have been on bad/poison (fluoridated (etc)) tap (&/or bottled) water the last weeks which has been harming/hindering my (studying/researching and other) abilities & health.
