On the first day of the Ramadan feast, Kurdish President Massoud Barzani visited Kurdish Peshmerga forces on the frontline in Kirkuk.

On Monday, Barzani visited the region along with Kurdish Peshmerga officials. He told the forces that they had made history and shown great courage in fighting the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS) in Iraq and the disputed territories.

“It’s my responsibility to come and visit you all on the first day of the feast and on behalf of all Kurdish people congratulate you,” said Barzani.

Since the start of last month, Peshmerga forces have controlled the disputed regions of Iraq, following attacks by ISIS and the withdrawal of the Iraqi army.

He also said that currently Peshmerga forces have a historical role in Iraq.

“Peshmerga are making history and building the future of the Kurdish nation and that’s a big honor,” added Barzani.

“Peshmerga sacrifice their lives to enable Kurds to live in peace and freedom, the Kurdish cause is nearing its completion and victory,” Barzani told Peshmerga forces in Kirkuk.

They deserve all praise and laudatory commendation.

They remain fierce and dedicated fighters.

They, if not the Obama administration, long recognized the seriousness of the ISIS threat. And long before Obama dawdled and innocents died in Iraq or Syria.

Alas until that same administration supports them in an adequate fashion far beyond the current..they remain in jeopardy.

But from one old soldier to others in the 'good fight' against Islamist fanaticism. I salute their courage and spirit.
