Old TV westerns and spy shows like: Maverick and The Prisoner.

But I'm generally to busy with late life adventures. Listening to CT's/paranormal/supernatural radio programming....looking for Astro-physical/astronomical events.  Checking on my defense stock investments like a good capitalist. Or my time is spent here chasing off Spammers and Nationalistic bigots.

Now I do enjoy that.

Or I am cooking tiswin.. and chasing Apache women.

All is good in life

Heheh, There were very few regularly sched. programs when I was a kid.  Any of my favs. as a kid would have been on Kinescope and not very many recorded shows made it.  Spent a lot of time staring at test patterns.Tongue

Also, many of the reg. sched. shows were live. Some kept film, some did not.  One of my favs. was a live action western, Action in the Afternoon.  The set still exists out behind the old WCAU studios.  There are no known episodes surviving.
The 3 shows I did think of first though are- Bonanza, first reg. sched. color show. Gunsmoke and Have Gun, Will Travel.

Ah, yes Nick, I can feel it all flooding back. Not that in those days I was stuck in front of the screen all day or anything, but Flipper was one of those shows we just about always watched.Smile

My favorites are those that are strongly historically based, those that are fantasy/pseudo-history based, and those that are suspenseful and/or thought provoking...and some that are just plain action.

Examples are Rome, Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Flash Forward, XIII, Strikeback, CSI NY and Vegas, NCIS - love the cast - Lost and similar shows.  I'm also a fan of historical documentaries and historical docu-dramas.

I refuse outright to watch anything called a "reality" show.  Ermm

I have seen it, and the next series "Vengeance" - all of them, in fact - and despite the blood, gore and gratuitous sex - or maybe because of it - I liked them.  Big smile

The Tudors was terrific - kind of a historically accurate version of Game of Thrones!

I've seen a few episodes of Vengeance but Sky keeps skipping back to the first and second series. I hope they include the famous "I'm Spartacus" scene in the final episode of War of the Damned

I have another list here, it goes back aways.Wink

   Ramar of the Jungle, 1954
Bonanza, Man with a Camera, Cannonball[corny as hell, but it was the first decent trucker show]
Dragnet, the original.
What In The World? An incredible show from the Uof P Museum, hosted by Froleich Rainey.  It first aired in 1958.  Won a peabody and is the reason I became interested in Archaeology.

Doctor Who, the first version and the version with Tom Baker as Who.  I loved the special effectsBig smile
like the broomstick arms on the Daleks, that waggeled when they moved, and the tin foil wrapped around the broomstick to make it look metallic.  Shower head Rayguns etc.  Great stuff.

Connections isn't really that old.  It's still in syndication.  I used certain episodes to gather class interest when I was teaching.  The game was to figure out where he was going with it and where he would end up.

Well...rats...Ouch

It isn't shown here anymore, and I really liked it.  It was educational, too.

I almost forgot, somehow, one of the best of the oldie shows - Mork and Mindy.

Red, a couple of years ago my local museum had an exhibition of Dr Who props. There was an original Dalek, an early version of K-9, a replica of the Tardis and the Doctor's patchwork coat (complete with cat badge)

I still have the original vinyl soundtrack.  Few realize the impact Bernstein had on pop music with the compos.
Every once in awhile you still here someone using "The Brothers go to Mother's" in a background on some other show.
The alto sax solo over, in the actual theme, was copied for the next 20 years.

Not old, ancient. Big smile John Glenn appeared on YBYL as a USMC Major.  And Gangbusters was a Radio show, to my knowledge it didn't make it to the tube.  There were other radio shows that did make the shift.  "The Lone Ranger, Capt Midnight, Boston Blackie, to name a few.

I just remembered an early Cold War classic, "I Led Three Lives", the Kim Philby story.  It set off a whole string of "spy" shows.

As I recall, pre cable TV in Maine, was likely the reason for very large familys.  TongueBig smile

I remember sitting in my in-laws living room in Waterville, watching a show in which there were 8 people playing all percussion instruments, for an hour.  No dialogue, and Prime time as well. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.Confused

Mountain Man, I afraid that Ben did not ever star in this series. I think he was doing a Doctor show about the same time, David Janssen was the star.

Janssen previously stared as the private detective "Richard Diamond!"

And my favorite Cop Show of all time was "The Naked City!"/ "Naked City" series. Paul Burke, the star of the hour long version, and I had a long conversation while flying from London to NYC in 1971. He lived in England, and was returning to the states do make a series of Buick commercials, the ones that featured "LeSabre, Invicta, and Electra!"

When you want to get into old Television shows, I've got a hundred of them, most of which most of you will not recognize.

How about - Rocket Rangers
            Pinky Lee
            Howdy Doody
            Science Fiction Theatre
            The Show of Shows
            The Rifleman
            Wanted Dead or Alive
            The Kate Smith Show
            My Little Margie
            Spring Bride
The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis
            I Married Joan
            The Life of Reilly
            77 Sunset Strip
            Bourbon St. Beat
            Surfside Six
            The Milton Burle Show
            The Jimmy Durante Show
Sid Caesar and Imogene Coker Show
            Tennessee Ernie Ford Show
            The Dinah Shore Show
            Route 66
            Omnibus
            The Gallant Men
            Combat
            12 O'clock High
            You'll Never Get Rich
The Phil Silver's Show (SGT. Bilko)

Heck, I'm getting tired!

Maybe I will list some more old shows that I watched later.

Regards, Ron

It was interesting to see re-runs of Bewitched. I think Elizabeth Montgomery was an excellent actress to be Samantha the Witch. Her mother Endora was one determined lady. Aunt Clara's magic did not always work. Gladys Kravitz was one neighbor forever spying on Mrs. Stephens.

It was nice to see reruns of Get Smart. Don Adams played Maxwell Smart. Barbara Feldon portrayed Agent 99.
It was interesting to see Maxwell making phone calls with the telephone built into the sole of his shoe.
